Step into the Future

First of all, I would like to say thank you to Microsoft, for such an inspiring photograph, and a great positive end to my day.

Right before I logged onto my laptop to start my homework, I came across this lock screen. I stared at it for nearly 5 minutes because it truly is one of the most mesmerizing pictures I’ve seen.

This photograph is a metaphor of all of our lives. Perhaps it’s because of my Music Exam earlier today that I’m analyzing Art, but bear with me for a bit.

The left side, is our past. It’s where we have come from. It’s a little bit dark because everyone has gone through tough times to get to where they are, and it’s a little bit narrow, because there is nothing that we can change about the past. There’s no use worrying about mistakes that we have made, regrets that we have, and situations that we now have no control over.

Learning this has taken me quite some time, because if we can’t move on from the past, then we can’t move onto the future.

Now look at the picture again.

Look straight ahead, where the path is lit, and there is success. You can see the Tower Bridge straight ahead, with London City Hall right next to it. There’s greenery, and yet looks extremely futuristic. The reflection on the right side building also emphasizes transparency.

When we want to work towards something, then there’s nothing to stopping us.

The path straight ahead, the one lined to our future, is rocky and bumpy, but just like the water inlet, you just have to go with the flow.

So, take my hand, take a breath, and take one step at a time 🙂

Did this photograph inspire you, or did you have a different reaction from this cityscape? Be sure to leave your comments below 🙂
